I took my Daughters cat to the vet on Monday for a suspected recurrent urinary tract infection. I was notified by the vet tech that an X-ray was needed due to a hardness felt in his body cavity. Shortly after the head veterinarian arrived beside my car with this photo and a diagnosis of impacted bowels, the worst she’d ever seen in her long career. Advising if a specialist was found you would be taking on exorbitant costs, complex surgery and the question of the condition of the bowel after surgery and then the expense of palliative care necessary after such a procedure. She recommended euthanasia ASAP.
I took him back to my Daughters with the sad news and after consoling them and them agreeing to postpone his demise, I proceeded to harvest his toenail clippings and drove home to search for programs with my Spooky2 that I could try to save him. I ran on remote, 2 programs for constipation and one for bowel impacted on him. At least I could try to help.
Within two days he began to drink a little and then started to eat a little and then on the 3rd day, he evacuated the contents of that impacted bowel!!! He’s eating again like a champ and is back to his old self.
Needless to say, the vet’s office was speechless when she called them and gave them the good news!
Thanks to Spooky2 my new nickname from my family is Dr PooLittle!!!
