Peanuts Allergy

Comment: I wanted to leave a testimonial on your site, and did not know where to write to you. I hope this is the right spot!

My oldest daughter, who is 18, has an allergy to peanuts. The last time she had any peanut butter, it had only touched her lips and her lips had swollen up triple their size. We told her to never touch peanuts again, and educated her on reading the ingredient list on packaged foods. Since she was older, and we homeschooling, I was not too worried that she would accidentally ingest peanuts. Just a few day ago she went to a party, where she scanned the food table to find something to eat. She chose a store bought chocolate chip cookie and some chips. When she came home shortly thereafter she started telling me her throat was feeling funny. We were all getting sick with a cold, so I didn’t really put two and two together. A few minutes later she came to me and said, “Mom, my throat is NOT feeling right, something is wrong!” I asked her what she had eaten at the party, and she told me. Nothing with peanuts in it. She is so sensitive that she says she can smell peanut butter from a mile away 🙂 I thought maybe there was some cross contamination. Regardless, she was starting to go into distress as she said her throat was now swelling up and she was having difficulty breathing. On the way to call 911, I remembered my Spooky2 (We have only had Spooky for a few weeks, and I was freaking out at the moment, which is why I ‘forgot I had a Spooky!!) I bypassed the phone, hooked up my contact cables and typed in anaphalaxis. Within 5 to 10 seconds she could breathe again, though there was still the swelling in her throat. But before all the frequencies ran for the anaphalaxis, she was back to normal! There would have been NO way for the ambulance to get here in time to have helped her when she needed it. By the time she had grabbed hold of the contacts she said she was on the verge of passing out. I have no doubt that Spooky2 saved my daughters life. (We will be getting her an epi pen, should she find herself out and away from home in that same situation again…I pray not, though!!)

I am so thankful that I had Spooky in my possession!
